Aikido at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu
Aikido will once again be featured at The World Games 2025, taking place in Chengdu, China this August. As a recognized invitational sport, Aikido will be showcased through a set of dynamic demonstrations that highlight the discipline’s core values of harmony, non-resistance and mutual respect.
Celebrating Aikido on the World Stage
The World Games, organized by the International World Games Association (IWGA) under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), serve as a global platform for non-Olympic sports. Aikido’s inclusion reflects its growing international presence and philosophical contribution to the world of martial arts.
The Aikido demonstrations in Chengdu will be presented by delegations representing IAF member federations from around the globe. These carefully curated demonstrations are designed to reflect the diversity of Aikido practice, including techniques from different schools and styles, as well as the inclusive spirit of the Aikido community.
From August 7-17, the breathtaking city of Chengdu, China, will welcome over 5000 incredible athletes from over 110 countries for The World Games 2025. Aikido will have the Embukai on the 9th and the 10th of August.
Focus on Unity and Peace
True to the essence of Aikido, the event will emphasize collaboration in demonstrations. The Emkukai sessions will aim to inspire and educate the public about Aikido’s unique approach to conflict resolution, self-discipline and physical well-being. Through precise movements, partner interaction and the principle of blending with energy rather than opposing it, Aikido practitioners will convey the art’s message of peaceful coexistence.
