Japan Cultural Grant Assistance
Japan's Cultural Grant Assistance granted 200 m2 tatamis to the Algerian Aikido Fderation.
200 m2 new tatamis have been granted to the associate member, the Algerian Aikido Federation, by the Japanese government, as part of Cultural Grant Assistance. The Algerian Aikido Federation was qualified as the eligible recipient of the grant as their continuous effort to promote Japanese budo was recognized by the local embassy of Japan. 60 sets of Kendo equipment were also sent to the member.
The special ceremony was held with the presence of Mr. Akira Kono, the Ambassador of Japan to Algeria, Takeshi Kanazawa Shihan and Hino Terumasa Shihan, from Aikido Hombu Dojo, Mr Nasser Rouibah, the Chairman of Algerian Aikido Federation, Mr. Wilko Vriesman, the Chairman of the IAF.
The Government of Japan provides Cultural Grant Assistance as part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA). The grant is to promote culture, sports and higher education in developing countries, as well as provide support for the improvement of facilities and the purchase of equipment to be used in the conservation of cultural heritage, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and friendly relations between Japan and these countries.
