Message of Doshu for the Aikido community
Dear friends,
Here by a message of Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba for the world Aikido community in the grip of the pandemic.
This message comes together with the video recording of a special class of Doshu for the Aikido practitioners to maintain the Aikido spirit.
”To Practitioners of Aikido
Aikido Doshu
Moriteru Ueshiba
Already half of this year has passed by so quickly.
While in Tokyo, the state of the COVID-19 pandemic is still difficult, Japan is starting to gradually progress. In and out of the country dojos that refrained from practicing are little by little starting to reopen and resume practice.
In May, the number of participants for the yearly All-Japan Aikido Embukai was reduced and spectators were not allowed at the scaled-down event, but we could hold it. And in the current circumstances, holing the Embukai to the best of our abilities now makes it an important event in our progress.
The Kagamibiraki Ceremony, the Aiki Shrine Grand Festival, and the All-Japan Aikido Embukai were shared using Youtube, and I think it is a step forward during the COVID-19 pandemic that people around the world were able to watch these events.
The Aikikai Foundation can clearly feel that the Aikido Hombu Dojo, as well as dojos around the world, are working together and facing the future as we tread further on our way.
From now, while continuing to recognize the situations around the world, do fully what you are able to do in this time, and we will together move forward.
As I have said before, I greatly look forward to the day when I can meet you all in-person, and we can practice together in the dojo.”
